Solar power plants in the United States

Solar units in the 2025 EIA-860 data total 154.3 GW of nameplate capacity, 11.2% of the US fleet. It is the main source at 7,112 plants; Texas has the most, with 30.8 GW. More of today’s solar capacity came online in 2024 than in any other year (31.2 GW). The oldest unit still working went into service in 2001 at Springerville, Arizona.
